The Fitbit Charge 4 takes everything great about the Fitbit Charge 3 and adds GPS to it. That means it’s a better standalone fitness device, capable of giving you a little more information without the need for a connected phone. It’s still slim, comfortable, and able to track all of your daily stats like steps, sleep, and activities, plus being able to give you an accurate route and speed for races and rides. It also supports Fitbit Pay for mobile payments.

The downside to this feature is that heavy GPS use will quickly drain the battery, but if you’re looking for a fitness tracker, it certainly ticks all the boxes. On top of that, the Fitbit ecosystem is great, backed by a brilliant app that presents your data in an easy-to-understand way and doesn’t mess around with the numbers too much – instead, it features sensitive metrics, so you’re always in the picture.

The reason we haven’t put it higher on this list is that it’s unlikely to make it into many people’s budgets. The Forerunner 645 has a great feature set at a steep price, but the Fenix 6 Pro goes even further in both cases.

The Fitbit Versa 2 has been superseded by the Versa 3, but that’s still a valid consideration if you’re looking more for a fitness smartwatch than a fitness tracker. It offers a color display, NFC for Fitbit Pay, and several smartwatch features, including some third-party apps. There’s a heart rate monitor, an altimeter, and the Versa 2 is waterproof as well.

It lacks the built-in GPS, which the Versa 3 has, offering connected GPS instead, but the Versa 2 lets you connect to Bluetooth headphones to listen to music and offers all the great features of the Fitbit platform. . You’ll pay more for this device than the Charge 4, but if you want something more substantial without going through a full smartwatch, the Versa is a good option and the Versa 2 is cheaper than the Versa 3.

The Samsung Galaxy smartwatch Active 2 is another slightly more watch option than the activity tracker, but it’s still packed with features like waterproof, heart rate, and built-in GPS. It also offers full-fledged smartwatch features.

It’s also one of the more eye-catching designs on the list – we’re big fans of its understated look. Like the Garmin Forerunner 645 Music, you won’t get the battery life of devices like the Fitbit Charge 4 and the Fitbit Inspire 2, and sleep tracking isn’t as successful on Fitbit’s range of options.

  • POLAR PRECISION PRIME HEART RATE : Polar’s heart rate monitor watches redefine the gold standard in optical heart rate accuracy by combining the latest in bio-impedance electrodes and optical sensors
  • TRAINING LOAD PRO: The Vantage M is the ultimate fitness tracker, separating cardio load, muscle load and perceived load. Polar’s Training Load Pro provides an unparalleled look into how your training affects your body
  • SWIM/BIKE/RUN FUNCTIONALITY : As a waterproof watch, long-distance running watch and biking activity tracker combined, you can capture key metrics like swimming stroke and pace. You can even pair with your favorite compatible cycling accessory
  • PERSONALIZE WITH YOUR OWN STYLE : With customizable fitness band options, tailor your Vantage M with replaceable wrist bands of multiple colors

Polar redesigned its sports watches in 2018 and launched the Vantage series. There’s the V which is the top model and the M, which loses some functions and doesn’t quite have the same high-end design as the V, but offers much of the same quality. It offers great heart and GPS tracking, with plenty of metrics for fitness enthusiasts and runners.

It’s supported by Polar Flow, a great app for viewing your data and sorting things out, and for those who want to track their training, the Vantage M performs well with lots of useful metrics. Where it can’t really compete is in smart functions – it’s not as well connected as Garmin or Fitbit, there’s no support for mobile payments or music. But the M offers better value for money than the Vantage V, so we think it’s the better option.

Comparison Polar Vantage M vs Vantage V vs Grit X: the differences, which one to choose?

  • Moov Now offers free guided sports programs including swimming, running, cycling, body weight training, HIIT and cardio boxing.

Returning to fitness and activity trackers, we threw a total curve ball into the mix, with the Moov Now looking rather unconventional. Unlike the other devices in our guide, the Moov does not have a display screen and relies on your smartphone to transmit all the visual data you need. The Moov, however, is your virtual ‘on the go’ coach, giving you real-time audio feedback on your performance, monitoring your movements, progress, and motivating you to move forward and achieve your fitness goals. It even remembers what you did (or didn’t) in your last session and can even raise the stake to keep you winning. There’s also a built-in heart rate monitor and the Moov can go in the water to be your swim mate too.

While its unconventional look may take a bit of getting used to, the Moov Now fitness tracker is a flexible little thing, designed to be worn on the ankle as well as the wrist, making it a great device. for most sports and is tough enough to overcome all bumps and knocks. And with incredible battery life – around six months – you can wear it 24/7, without missing a beat. The Moov’s battery is not rechargeable, so make sure you always have a spare. Sync it with the Moov Now app via iOS or Android, and you can also download your music to listen to while you sweat before you sit down and review all your stats on your smartphone, ready to plan your next workout. It’s weird, but it works, and the price is good too. Be sure to also check our list of the best waterproof watches for more waterproof options like this.
