Graded diamonds are frequently mislabeled as “certified diamonds” or as having a “diamond certificate.” The term “certification” has been frequently and incorrectly applied to diamonds, which can cause some confusion when discussing a diamond’s appraisal. True “certification” is, in fact, a grading report done by an impartial laboratory that evaluates the diamond’s properties. To further support our REEDS customers as they make crucial purchases, all lab created ECONIC bridal and solitaire diamonds come with an independently certified grading report. 20cts or greater

Reeds jewelers reviews
Reeds’ website is worth a thousand words just by looking at it. Throughout the site, there is a strong focus on presents, low-cost jewelry, and an overall ‘budget’ vibe. Now, there’s nothing wrong with being inexpensive, and I’m not one to judge a book by its cover or a jewelry firm by its marketing, but does Reeds deliver on quality? Reeds Jewelers has been thoroughly reviewed in order to assist you in making the best diamond engagement ring purchase possible.
In the 1940s, Bill Zimmer and his wife Roberta developed Reeds. They gradually expanded the company until Alan Zimmer became executive vice president in the 1980s, and then CEO and president five years later. He began making significant adjustments to the original business strategy in order to modernize it. Reeds presently has a presence in 13 states.
Despite the fact that Reeds’ origins is founded on a conventional, family-run structure, the company’s roots are no longer visible. Reeds has all the markings of a huge chain jeweler, despite Zimmer’s claim that the firm still has a pleasant, family-run vibe. Discount and budget jewelry are clearly emphasized, with little attention paid to excellent designs or a consistent message of family values.
Reeds’ stores are typically well-designed, with a safe, slightly generic branding approach that is common among chain jewelers. There isn’t much on display to set them apart from any other jewelry store in a shopping center. This would be OK if the emphasis was on the jewelry’s quality rather than marketing, but Reeds failed to redeem itself in that area as well (more on this later).
Staff retention is a major issue for high-street stores, particularly chain jewelers. When it comes to something as specialized as diamonds, however, workers with limited expertise or education constitute a major roadblock when purchasing your diamond. My interactions with Reeds salespeople have been uneven, but one consistent trend has been a fundamental lack of technical understanding of diamonds. Despite the fact that most fundamental features such as the four C’s tend to go astray while chatting with Reeds’ employees, I sincerely feel for any first-time diamond purchasers seeking guidance at a Reeds store.
Whether this is a purposeful attempt to divert attention away from issues of quality, or simply a case of constantly shifting employees who do not receive proper training, it has a significant influence on Reeds’ entire experience.
The continual attempts to upsell, on the other hand, are the most annoying aspect of the sales process. I frequently discuss the disadvantages of purchasing from a typical jewelry store, but with the appropriate salesperson, it can be a good transaction that leaves the customer with a wealth of information and trust in the staff and products. It truly is a game of chance. Unfortunately, when it comes to Reeds, the odds are stacked against you, and the sensation of a commission-driven interaction absolutely permeates the whole experience.
The Reeds Website
Reeds website is simple to use, albeit a touch busy. They are clearly not ‘diamond experts’ in the same way that James Allen and Whiteflash are. There is a dearth of information on diamond grading or standards, which maintains Reeds’ tendency of inexperienced purchasers missing out on diamond education. There is, in my opinion, no excuse for this. Even if you do not believe yourself to be as precise as organizations like Whiteflash or to have the same massive diamond stocks as Blue Nile, you are still required to provide the buyer with as much information about the product as feasible.
If you discover their diamond education area (a minor afterthought placed at the bottom of the web pages along with other small print), there is some nice information there that may help, but it is pretty broad and tells you very nothing about Reeds’ own requirements for their diamond jewelry.
The Reeds Diamonds
AGS and GIA certified diamonds are carried by Reeds, which is a significant plus. Ticks appear to have come to a halt at this point. Certifications are frequently disregarded, despite the fact that they should be one of their strongest selling factors. Reeds frequently employ bracket grades, such as “this diamond is assured to be at least an I in color and a SI2 in clarity,” and so forth.
Although this strategy may have worked in the past, purchasers now have far more knowledge about diamond quality and how it affects pricing. These data are crucial since even a small change in a diamond’s grade might mean the difference between a diamond that fits your budget and one that does not. Giving the assurance of a color grade of “J or higher” can have a significant impact.
Giving the promise of a “J or above” in color can result in pricing differences of hundreds of dollars. By ignoring these distinctions, the customer forfeits their right to find a stunning diamond at a reasonable price.
Reeds has a decent collection of settings, but they’re pricey for what they’re worth. Their pave settings are dull due to the use of low-quality diamonds or diamond ‘chips,’ which are diamonds that haven’t been cut to a brilliant polish. They also utilize illusion settings, such as this Ellaura engagement ring, which uses many diamonds instead of a single huge center stone. An illusion setting creates the ‘illusion’ of a center diamond without the need to obtain a well-cut, high-quality diamond to utilize, which is a trademark of jewelers who don’t believe in their gems.
Selecting an engagement ring is a very personal decision, and some people choose illusion settings because they allow them to have a huge band without going over budget. My suggestion is to always choose quality over quantity. There are also lovely halo and three-stone settings available that will still look spectacular on the hand while maintaining the high-quality polish that we expect from an engagement ring.
